A Bitcoin whale, who’s been chilling for nearly a decade, just made some waves in the crypto ocean by moving 5 BTC to Kraken! According to Arkham Intelligence, this mysterious wallet had been hibernating until recently, making this its third Bitcoin transfer in just a few weeks.
This whale’s stash dates back to the early days of Bitcoin, between January and March 2009. Imagine stumbling upon a treasure chest buried in the sands of time! This address was busy between 2011 and 2014, moving coins around, but then went completely silent.
Fast forward to today, the value of their hoard has skyrocketed from a modest under-$500,000 in 2014 to a jaw-dropping $80 million! Talk about a good investment! The whale recently woke up and made three separate transactions totaling 10 BTC. According to Arkham, they still have a hefty 1,215 BTC, worth around $77 million.
In another twist, Arkham highlights yet another wallet that broke a 15-year silence. This one received its stash during Bitcoin’s infancy and is now sitting on a $16 million treasure trove.
And if that’s not enough, there was another blast-from-the-past wallet, active during the days of Bitcoin’s mysterious creator, Satoshi Nakamoto. This one earned 250 BTC in May 2010 and recently split the stash into five new wallets.
So, what’s with all these ancient whales waking up? Who knows? But one thing’s for sure—things are getting exciting in the crypto world!
