Hold onto your hats, crypto enthusiasts! Metaplanet is making waves again, adding a whopping 150 BTC to its stash, bringing its total to a jaw-dropping 3,200 BTC! It's part of their all-out mission to gobble up the king of cryptocurrencies.
Here's the scoop: Metaplanet Inc. has just forked out a cool ¥2 billion ($13.3 million) in zero-interest bonds to fund even more Bitcoin grabs. Talk about going all-in! These bonds, worth ¥50 million each, are all about expanding their Bitcoin empire. No interest to worry about, and they're set to be cashed in by September 17, 2025. But hey, if you want to cash in early, just give a day's notice!
But wait, there's more! If they hit the jackpot with their stock acquisition rights, they might just redeem some of those bonds earlier. Just last week, they pulled off another ¥2 billion bond sale to fuel their Bitcoin buying spree.
On the same day, Metaplanet snagged 150 BTC for a sweet $12.5 million at an average of $83,508 per Bitcoin. This brings their treasure chest to a grand total of 3,200 BTC, originally bought for $266.2 million, now valued at around $265.9 million with current market rates.
They've got a keen eye on their Bitcoin game with their own metric called Bitcoin Yield (BTC Yield). Between January 1 and March 18, 2025, they've clocked in a BTC yield of 60.8%.
This latest addition is just one of many recent grabs by Metaplanet. The previous week saw them scoop up 162 BTC for $13.5 million, along with other buys like 497 BTC for $43.9 million on March 5, 156 BTC for $13.4 million on March 3, 68 BTC for $6.6 million on February 20, and 269 BTC for $26 million on February 17.
CEO Simon Gerovich is on a mission, aiming for 10,000 BTC by year-end and a staggering 21,000 BTC by 2026. Meanwhile, Metaplanet's shares took a tiny dip, closing at ¥4,030 in Japan, but the stock is still up 12.73% this year and has rocketed an eye-popping 1,819% over the past 12 months.
In a thrilling twist, Metaplanet has now overtaken Chinese gaming giant Boyaa Interactive International to become Asia's biggest corporate Bitcoin holder. Globally, they're sitting pretty at 12th place. Keep your eyes peeled, folks—Metaplanet is on a roll!
