Hold onto your hats, crypto enthusiasts, because the battle for the top spot in the app download game is heating up! Binance is still holding onto its crown as the most downloaded app in the crypto universe, but Bitget is gaining momentum and closing in fast.
Bitget's native wallet has just crossed a whopping 40 million users, doubling its numbers since March 2024. This impressive growth spurt has catapulted Bitget to become the second most downloaded crypto app globally. Just in September, Bitget Wallet saw 6 million new downloads – talk about a download frenzy!
In a recent revelation, the Bitget team credited their skyrocketing success to a few game-changing moves. They've teamed up with the TON ecosystem and integrated their wallet services with Telegram, allowing users to access them directly through the messaging app. This clever combo is bridging the gap between the classic Web2 world and the shiny new Web3 frontier.
The third quarter saw a mind-blowing 4866% increase in TON on-chain addresses. Bitget is also attracting a wave of new users from emerging markets like Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East, where their popularity is soaring by as much as 413%.
But wait, Binance isn't backing down just yet. Even with some regulatory speed bumps, their app racked up 9.9 million downloads in a single month! Back in the glory days of the 2024 bull market, Binance reigned supreme on the app charts, with their mobile app featuring a mix of trading and Web3 functionalities snagging over 6.3 million downloads in the first quarter alone.
The recent release of former CEO Changpeng ‘CZ’ Zhao has stirred up a fresh wave of interest in Binance, while the buzz around “Uptober” has given download numbers an extra jolt.
However, it's not all smooth sailing for Binance. Their spot market share has taken a hit, dropping to 27% in September – a level not seen since January 2021. And their spot trading volume isn't looking too rosy either, with a nearly 23% dip down to $344 billion, the lowest monthly total since November 2023.
So, as the crypto app race heats up, who will take the lead? Stay tuned, because this digital showdown is just getting started!
